Tuesday Night Lemans
Rules: The rules may change as we find what works well, and what participating racers think is the most FUN.
To QUALIFY, the #1 driver from all teams will get into a randomly chosen kart and up to 12 karts (representing up to 12 different teams) will leave the pits a few seconds apart. Each of those racers will drive 5 minutes before they pull into the pits and stop. Then the #2 driver for the first team into the pits gets into a cold kart at the front of the line. The #2 drivers for the other teams get into the next kart in line. This process repeats until all 4 team members have driven. Finally each teams 4 driver's average lap times are totaled and the fastest team will qualify for the front of the Main race. DNF's (Did not finish) will go to the back based on the number of laps completed. The MAIN RACE will be for position, not for best lap times. The format will be similar to qualifying except the karts will leave the pits bunched-up. This format will make each heat very competitive, it forces drivers to do well in different karts, and it gives the fast teams a disadvantage by forcing them to drive a cold kart. In addition to adding a cold kart to the front of the line, the slowest kart will be discarded and the remaining karts will be inverted. The WINNING TEAM will not be known until the points for each of the drivers has been totaled. 120 points for 1st, 110 for 2nd, 100 points for 3rd, 90 points for 4th, etc. Teams with only three drivers will get 7/8 of their points, teams with 2 drivers get 3/4 of their points. To keep racing fun and safer, our no bumping rule will be strictly enforced. Be warned, if we see you bump deliberately, or bump and pass, we will shut your kart down for at least 5 seconds. Each team may want to have an alternate driver, or other team member who is designated as the team manager. The manager is responsible for getting the correct driver into the correct kart at the correct time, or the team will be disqualified. A good manager could be helpful to the teams success. © 2002 - HotTrack Indoor Karting, Inc. |
